Prolife Vs. Prochoice
I definitely believe in LIFE! But I also have lived in a time when people have turned to the butchers in the back streets with dirty rooms, low lighting and cannot be found when the woman that used their services began to hemorrhage from improper procedures or unsanitary conditions. So; it all goes back to what Phil said. Jesus said it best: "I have come that ye might have LIFE, and that more abundantly." (John 10:10)
No elected official can make the choice to please the people. The people must make the choice that pleases God. It's an individual decision as salvation is a personal choice. It would behoove you to make Jesus your choice. It has enternal ramafications!

YES WE CAN!
"By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another." -Jesus of Nazareth- (John 13:35)
I never dreamed I'd live to see this day in the history of our country! A country that has united in a cause "For the people, by the people." Where color would not be the premise of decision, but ability and hope would become the deciding factor.
As you can see from my opening quotes, I have held on to values of peace and love. Having been born in a time and place where segregation and hatred reigned, I endured. Not without scars or missed opportunities, but still looking towards a better day.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said it all for me when he said, "Don't judge me by the color of my skin, but by the content of my character."
President elect, Barrack Obama has this day, shown me that Dr. King's statement was worth embracing. My prayer is that the United States of America will truly become a united nation, "Under God."

Priorities
The words in this picture are among my favorite thoughts! I was so glad to find it to add to my blog. The choices we make today will indeed affect the children of the future.
This brings another thought to mind. Matthew 10:39-42 tells us a story about what is important. When Jesus visited the home of Martha and her sister Mary, Martha busied herself with preparations of entertaining their guest. Mary on the other hand, sat at the feet of Jesus to listen to His teachings.
It's important to be a good hostess; but it's more important to focus our attention on things that have everlasting results. Jesus reminds us of setting our priorities on things of heaven and not on earthly things that can be taken away.
I am by no means saying that we shouldn't take life seriously and strive to accomplish goals while here on earth in this life. What I am trying to convey is that this is not the end, nor the purpose why we exist.
There is more to life than materialistic values. When Martha became overwhelmed with preparations Jesus told her "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." (Matt. 10:41-42)
Where are you setting your priorities?

Fall

Fall is my favorite time of year. It speaks volumes to my spirit! The beautiful colors and the feel of the air says that "God is so... AWESOME!" As I sit in the afternoon stillness and quiet solitude observing the falling leaves, the contrast of color in trees, autumn flowers and sounds of nature, I am reminded of a song by Kurt Carr "Awesome Wonder." "You are an awesome wonder; no other power compares to you." No one can rightly take credit for being able to arrange such a glorious display than the maker of heaven and earth.
Acts 1:7 says " It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power."
We are made aware of so much through the seasons and situations that happen in daily life. Yet we fail to understand the "time of the season" in reference to the prophesy of God. The "Son of Man" will return soon. I don't know the day nor the hour, but I do know that Jesus is coming back and the time is now closer than ever before.
I want to be ready to enter into His rest. How about you?

Relationships
"I see my relationship with my heavenly father, with God in heaven--as someone to look to if I want to look for guidance, to feel comfortable with my thoughts, my actions, someone to be accountable to." -Blair Underwood-
This is a very healthy attitude! God is to be reverenced. Many people fail to realize that in many of the scriptures, when we read "Fear" God, it is to be interpreted as "To respect" Him. We are always so quick to blame God when things go wrong. If we truly seek the face of God instead of His hand, we will come to understand that He only wants the best for us.
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:11)

THE PROMISE
Today, I have unfolded another piece of the puzzle concerning this long trek to find balance and quality in life. I realized that at the precise time that I was diagnosed, there was a greater issue that I should have been working through emotionally.
The "Empty Nest Syndrome" is a very real change in ones' life when you have been parenting for more than half of your life. My youngest daughter had just left my ever watchful caring eye, and dependency on me. It is a time for adjustment to another phase in your life cycle.
As I look at this picture, I am reminded that water is a major component in the life cycle. It's stillness and the beautiful landscape around it is very peaceful. But what really inspired this writing is the rainbow! In 1994, I lost my health, wealth, family, marriage, job, home, and my happiness. But, as I lay in bed the other night thinking about my day, I heard a still small voice in my spirit.
After God had destroyed everything He had created except Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives, and all the animals Noah saved in the Ark with them, God gave Noah the rainbow sign as His promise to never destroy all of mankind by water ever again. Here, the rainbow reminds me of another promise that Jesus has made to all that have joined themselves to Him through Salvation.
When all else was gone; Jesus kept His promise to me..."I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5) He has been with me through it all! I have learned that my "JOY" is greater than my happiness.

Like a prayer
"Pray without ceasing." ( I Thessalonians 5:17)

STRONG + WEAK = EQUALIZATION
The sermon was strongly intensified with the truth from the scriptures coming forth. Everyone in the sanctuary was touched by the message. Ones who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior looked inward and searched to draw nearer to Him. And, ah yes! There were those who made the decision to invite Him to become LORD of their lives.
As the altar call went forth, I found myself praying for a new soul who recently came to my church. I kept my eyes closed as I prayed that she would make the choice to come. I told the Lord that I know it is His desire that all would come to Him. I just continued to pray for her salvation and giving God the praise. Just at the moment I felt the unction to open my eyes, there only steps from me was that young lady. I began to walk towards her and placed my arms around her. In loving words and my tears mingled with hers, I was enabled by the Holy Ghost, to help her decide to give her life to Jesus.
"Seems that God is looking more for ways to get us home than for ways to keep us out. I challenge you to find one soul who came to God seeking grace and did not find it." -Max Lucado- "When God Wispers Your Name."

Juneteenth
June 19th 1865 is a day that many Africa American slaves in Texas learned that in truth, they had been freed from the tyranny of slavery for over 2 years. They had not gotten the word that the Emancipation Proclamation giving them that freedom had been signed by President Abraham Lincoln.
To this date in 2008, people of all color, celebrate this momentous occasion in the month of June. Many African Americans fought in this Civil War for a freedom of man.
But, even of greater importance is the war fought by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to purchase our freedom from sin and eternal death. He shed His precious blood to give us a "righteous" freedom known as "Salvation." Salvation means a change of bondage.
It is a wonderful thing to be free! But the freedom established by man is not an everlasting freedom. We still have bondages. Many who were "slave to the master," are now "slave to the dollar" and other earthly things which have no lasting effects. We are so prone to invest our time and money in property, stocks, bonds, and such to increase our status.
Jesus said "I have come that ye might have life; and that more abundantly (fully)." To be a slave to righteous, means to be free from death, hell and the grave.
To have this knowledge is truly wonderful to me. I can sing the words of an oldtime spiritual song with renewed hope; "I'm free; praise the Lord I'm free. No longer bound; no more chains holding me. My soul is resting; it's another blessing. Praise the Lord; Haleujah! I'm FREE!!"

Affliction is but the shadow of God's wing.
So Jesus in love sends afflictions my way;
The lessons that come in this school of deep pain
Will teach me to follow my Lord once again!"
__ Bosch__
These words help me to see a bigger picture of Love. Through my suffering with Lyme Disease and it's many effects, I become convinced of answered prayer.
When I was much younger, I prayed to GOD that He would not allow me to live my life away from HIM. I didn't want to remain frivolous in a sinful life style and not bring HIM glory.
We don't always understand why things happen; but if we will apply the WORD of GOD to our circumstances, we can see that there is a greater purpose. Romans 8:28 states that "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the "called" according to His purpose."
As I apply this scripture to what I am enduring, then I am reminded of my earlier prayer. I Peter 4:12-13, tells me "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the "fiery" trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy."
I cannot view my affliction as punishment. Jesus died to redeem me from eternal separation from the Father. He who knew no sin, became sin for me that I might receive the gift of eternal life "in Him."
If you ever think that life has thrown you a "curve ball," think not with the natural eye, but with the spiritual eye. You can then see that it's not a "curve," but a "compass" to help you find your way back to Him.

The Power Of Prayer
Prayer is the most powerful means of overcoming any kind of discouragement. It connects you with an omnipotent, omniscient Father who loves you unconditionally, who sees where you are and is going to help you in it.
-Charles Stanley
Jesus said in Matthew 5:13; "Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven."
I have found that I have a light to shine for God through my suffering the effects of Lyme Disease. There are so many promises of His unfailing love, presence, and comfort for me found in His Holy Word, the Bible. His promises are true and He is faithful.
If ever I have been grateful; it is to have memorized many scriptures as a child. The "words of life" found in His Word has given me a direct line to talk with Jesus; to see His heart and know how much He loves me.

AGING
With all the hype about products, procedures and health habits to keep us looking young and youthful, there's much about this natural process being forgotten.
The metamorphosis of life can be a painful struggle. Yet, as with this beautiful butterfly, it had to go through the struggle of being wrapped in a cocoon until the appointed time that it could emerge and spread its' wings of beauty.
I prefer to age "gracefully and godly" than to be beautiful in appearance only. It's not what's on the outside that makes one beautiful; it's the inner man (woman).
"And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind....." (Romans 12:2)

No Apologies

My thanks remain uncountable. After long talks with my past
I now realize that life held a divine purpose, for shoving me into places
that were as changeable as the wind.
In between the floundering of then and now,
the eyes of fate were following me---watching,
always watching with narrowing glances.
Now, having given deep thought to life's offerings,
I realize that everything that happened, should have happened.
So my heart lifts praise to a smiling autum--
to those fallen years that no longer exist.
With this, and with no respite, I give thanks--
to each dawn,
to each night,
to all the falling and climbing that patiently carried me
through unpredictable wanderings.
Crowned in the confusion that hammered my journey,
One golden thing stood:
LOVE---serene LOVE.
Nothing could banish love from my wilderness.

BLESSED
-George Washington Carver
I really like this quote. It speaks to my heart and takes my mind to another level. We as humans are so often caught up in the natural, carnal aspect. When I can reach outside of the everyday mundane
view of what's going on in my little circle, I can truly say with conviction.."Our God is an AWESOME God!"
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)
True light is only found in Jesus. He is referred to as "the light of the world." "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46)
Today, I am experiencing the onslaught of the symptoms associated with my bout with Lyme Disease. In my natural man, I am in the valley of darkness because of the sickness that ensues when the bacteria raises its' ugly head. I particularly dislike the muddled thinking that occurs from this disease. I don't refer to it as "My" disease, for I claim my healing in the name of Jesus. The Bible tells me "By His stripes, I am healed." Now, that's walking in the spirit! This battle is not mine; it's the Lord's!
When he hung and died on that old rugged cross on Calvary so long ago, and was risen on the third day; he got up with all power in His hands. Power over death, hell, and the grave. It's" In him that I live, and move, and have my being. If I suffer with him, I'll reign with him.
I Peter 2:9 tells me "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."
I'm grateful to have learned the technique of blogging. It allows me to journal my thoughts and feelings in a way that otherwise I could not do. I am more of an on hands, visual learner as of these last 14 years of fiery trials. The pictures and themes that I choose really helps me fight the fight of faith." Without faith, it is impossible to please God," but with faith... "All things are possible."
In spite of my suffering, I am blessed and highly favored!

Heart 4 U
Truth needs no defense, debate, or excuse.
"For GOD so loved the world, that HE gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
( John 3:16)
For this cause, Jesus came into the world. To atone mankind from death through sin. For as sin entered into the world through the first Adam; By the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary and by the shedding of His sinless blood, He became the ultimate atonement for all time.
The second Adam, can place us who will embrace Him as our Savior, back in right standing with our heavenly Father unto everlasting life. That's what Easter is all about. Without Jesus, there would be no reason to celebrate for there would be no resurrection.

FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT
Although I was a very dependable employee and performed my tasks with diligence, that only identified a characteristic I possessed. I've become so grateful for these words of wisdom. They became a stepping stone to my living with the effects of Lyme Disease.
Albert Einstein said "Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value."
Galatians 5:22-23 tells us "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I am so thankful for the WORD; the LOGOS!! Like I said, it is a haven in times of trouble. I no longer have the high paying job, the new home, the car, the photo-static memory, or the ability to go back to college right now. What I do have is the ability to look beyond the materialistic realm to find my value. Jesus has taken me to a place where I can see His face (Fred Hammond; "The Essential Fred Hammond" 2007 ).

In Everything Give Thanks!

IN EVERYTHING, GIVE THANKS Thank you Mimi, for giving us a place to tell what we are thankful for!

The quote I just used may have been said by someone else unknown, but I am glad to repeat it. In my struggle with Lyme Disease, I would not have been here today if it hadn't been for God's light.
David said "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my pathway." (Psalm 119:105 ) Earlier in the same Psalm, (vs 11), David said "Thy word have I hid in mine heart , that I might not sin against thee."
Because I had many scriptures memorized and relied much on my faith in God, He was able to speak to my spirit in my time of trouble. I am so thankful for early training in scripture!
The gratitude that comes from my innermost being is that I could hear God speaking above all the materialistic, financial , and physical disability I was facing. As I have stated in a previous posting, I found the ability to go on with life by heeding God's instruction to store my treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).
What we possess here on earth will not be taken with us when we die. I have never seen a hearse with a u-haul attached to it on the way to bury the dead. If it was, I'm almost positive that it was carrying a vault at the most!
Sure, we've read of how the families, slaves, and treasures were buried with kings, but the point I'm trying to make here is that those things didn't go with the soul. God's WORD says that we as mortals must take on immortality. And corruptible; incorruptible. Man made items are not included. Sorry. You might want to think about this.

HERE'S TO TODAY
There are two days in each week about which we should not worry. One of these is yesterday and the other is tomorrow.
Yesterday, with its misunderstandings, faults and blunders, aches and pains, has passed forever beyond our control. We cannot undo a single act that was performed or erase a single word that was spoken. Yesterday is gone.
And tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. The sun will rise, maybe in splendor or behind mask of clouds. But it will rise. And until it does, you have no stake in tomorrow. This leaves only one day to concentrate on --- today.
And anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It's when we add the burdens of yesterday and tomorrow that we break down. Live one day at a time.

We always complain about what's going on on the outside. No matter what you think should be going on or what should be happening; it all fades in God.
Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
SHARE THE DREAM
'When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance."
Joel Osteen
If your dreams only include you, then it isn't a dream! Mankind has been designed to live corporately; not alone.
When God created the heavens and the earth with all it's living creatures, He made sure each one had a partner. One after it's own kind that was understanding toward the needs of the other. All the way to putting Adam into a deep sleep so He could fashion Eve as a mate for him.
Most people have heard the phrase "No man is an island; no man stands alone." Scriptually, this is also true. Jesus told the young ruler that the greatest commandment was to "Love the Lord with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." Then He went even further to tell him to "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
In Acts 2:44-45; we read that the believers "were together and had all things in common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need."
So what I hope you will come to realize is that it is God's desire to fellowship with us. Once again in the future when He returns, that will be the joy of being His children. We who have accepted Him as our personal Savior, repented of our sins, been baptized in the name of Jesus, and filled with His spirit will live in fellowship with Him forever more.
Right now, it's my dream of that beautiful day to come. But what's so exciting while I wait is that it's not just a dream; one day soon it will become a REALITY!!!
Be encouraged and keep the faith.

FORGIVENESS
But as I read and pray, I have come to understand that "Our trials come to make us strong." Contrary to what you might believe, afflictions help us to become more compassionate toward others and draw us closer to our heavenly Father.
This can only be fulfilled in our lives if we use the one who is the "plumbline" or "the cornerstone" for the building. We must line up with the WORD of GOD. Understand that Jesus was tempted as we are and feels all of our afflictions. He tells us that we are to take up our cross and follow Him.
Hebrews 12:3 tells us... "For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds." The battle is in the mind, not the heart. The heart is just an organ to support the functions of the body; but the mind is the battlefield between life and death.
We are overcomers by the words of our testimony. Our testimony is how we came through our trial in victory. Victory is making the most of the day that we have been given.
I've often heard a saying that I find much truth in: "Regret looks back; Worry looks around; but Faith looks up."

The Four Candles, Author Unknown
The Four Candles burned slowly.
Their Ambiance was so soft you
could hear them speak...
The first candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit." Then Peace's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
The second candle says, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable." Then Faith's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
Sadly the third candle spoke, "I Am Love and I haven't the strength to stay lit any longer." "People put me aside and don't understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them."And waiting no longer, Love goes out completely.
Suddenly... A child enters the rooms and sees the three candles no longer burning. The child begins to cry, "Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end."
Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy, "Don't be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles."
With Shining eyes the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the
other three candles.
Never let the Flame of Hope go out of your life. With Hope, no matter how bad things look and are...Peace, Faith and Love can Shine Brightly in our lives.
FAITH
Most people read this scripture with a very distant understanding. I think this happens in part because of the "cloud of witnesses" that follow. But in order to be an overcomer, we must see the WORD as being "quick" and "powerful." The word "quick," can be equated to instantaneously, speedy, fast.
God says His word will not go out void; but that it will accomplish that purpose for which it is sent.
I received a very thought provoking email today that gives me vision, understanding and acceptance that I want to share with you.
"Happiness keeps you Sweet;"
"Trials keep you Strong;"
"Sorrows keep you Human;"
"Failures keep you Humble;"
"Success keeps you Glowing;"
"But only GOD keeps you Going!"
We must come to realize that we are not our own. We have been bought with a price. Jesus died on the cross at Calvary to purchase us back from the permanent death placed upon us all through sin. Happiness comes from "Happenings," but "Joy" comes from JESUS!
"This JOY that I have; the world didn't give it and the world can't take it away!!"
"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matthew 21:22
If we pray according to the will of God for our lives and His glory through our lives, He will bring it to pass.
Hold on; don't let go of His hand nor your "Faith."

Courage

"Courage" is the opposite of fear. In my last posting, I spoke of overcoming fear. St. Francis of Assi wrote the words that have rang out from the hearts of many. "Lord, give me the courage to accept the things I cannot change; to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
His opening word..."Lord," depicts one who readily acknowledges a higher power. Since so much of my success in overcoming Lyme Disease lies in my ability to draw from my spiritual storehouse, today I want to remind you of a very important scripture. Paul the Apostle wrote in II Timothy 1:7,"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, and power, and a sound mind."
Saying is easier than believing, and remembering a scripture is easier than putting it into practice!
King David prayed in Psalm 61:2 "....When my heart overwhelms me, lead me to the rock that's higher than I."
Many times, I find myself thinking of what has happened to me. How much I have lost financially, materialistically, and mentally. I become very depressed and feel so defeated. But I struggle my way through prayer (which by the way, is only dialogue with my heavenly Father), and find consolation through His WORD. Some I speak from memory and othertimes I read the hope of His promises from the Bible. The key to finding strength from this is to receive the words with faith that He is working out His plan for my life; to save me so I will reign with Him.
I'd rather suffer now so that I can live in that "forever" place outside of time with the one who gave his life for me. "Oh, The Blood of Jesus." It will never lose it's power!!

Freedom from Fear
The Bible says that "Perfect love casts out fear." Understanding where to find that "perfect love" is the key to executing this truth. Maybe you don't share my beliefs and that's okay. However, this is my blog, so I'm sharing my views. Jesus Christ is this "perfect love".
Accepting His plans for our lives gives us an understanding that is mentioned in Romans 8: 28 "And we know that all things work for good to them that love God; to them that are the called according to His purpose."
When we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we are telling Him to have His way in our lives, to bring glory to His name, and save us so we may dwell with Him in His New Jerusalem.

Lighthouse in the Stormy Sea
When the storms of life are raging, Jesus can be our beacon of light no matter how high the waves are crashing. Peter walked on the water as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. Let Jesus be our focus and our guide. Turn your eyes on Jesus and just walk...He will lead and guide you.

Purpose By Design is a good place to begin. I like all the songs on this CD, but "My Father Is/Was" is great!
Stress Relief
To relieve stress, resign as God of the universe!! I am convinced that only the Almighty God can make such a lovely scene as this possible. Although we can capture the essence of HIS greatness, we did not create anything; we only shape what HE has already made.

Overcoming Lyme Disease

This is a new opportunity for me to journal and share my thoughts. I have been disabled from Lyme Disease for 14 years now, and it has been tough going. The most rewarding aspect of having been stricken with this disease is my spiritual growth and application of the WORD.
I found that the WORD is LIFE! To overcome situations that appear to devastate us, having scriptures in our memory or heart, will help in time of trouble. I found a scripture in Psalm 119:71. "It is good that I was afflicted that I might learn your statues." The key in this verse is the Hebrew meaning for "might learn" which is "to use." So, in essence,
"It is good that I was afflicted that I might use your statues."
